Event Overview

Again in 2022 there are two Mountain Bike Racing events with MTB Cross Country and MTB Enduro events being contested.  Both events are to be coordinated by Sergeant Brett Barnes and Sergeant Dave Flood, both are not strangers to the NSW Police & ES Games, having coordinated, competed and held long term positions within the NSW Police Mountain Bike Club.

The events will be held at Green Valleys Mountain Bike Park, Tongarra. This venue is a boutique Mountain Bike park on private property at the foothills of the Macquarie Pass National Park, Tongarra. More information regarding this amazing venue can be seen via their website – www.greenvalleysmountainbikepark.com or Facebook – Green Valleys Mountain Bike Park.

On the Parks website, there is a Location Map (from google maps), on the Contact Us page (right at the bottom of the page).

Competitors are to ride or walk the course prior to the event, with practice sessions starting from 12pm. Racing will commence at 1pm.

Please contact the Sports Coordinator Sgt Brett Barnes, Bike Training on 02/8788.5164 or Eaglenet: 85164, for further information in regards to the course and any other equipment you might need.

The age categories for the enduro event are: Male & Female, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

Event Rules

Non-shuttle practice on the Monday 24. Although competitors are welcome to organise their own shuttles on Monday but must register at the event location before doing so. Monday afternoon will see a practice/fun session with BBQ on the Short course track.

Tuesday morning will allow competitors to practice the courses with a provided shuttle. Times TBA.

From 1pm competitors will negotiate 3 x courses.

A helmet is mandatory (full-face recommended) gloves and protective equipment recommended.

A dual suspension bike is recommended. Riders must compete on the same bicycle for all three courses unless a mechanical fault is experienced.

Event Description

The format for the enduro event will see competitors timed on 3 x gravity based courses. The culmination of their time on all three courses will determine overall placings. Competitors will be shuttled to the respective trail heads for the beginning of each timed stage.*

*Exception will likely be the short course.

Courses will be:

  1. a) Short (likely new dual slalom course),
  2. b) Medium (1-2 minutes); and
  3. c) Long (3-4 minutes).

Participants are asked to bring their own drinks.

Please also be aware that sun protection is also a must for all  mountain bike racing events and hydration packs are advisable for both the cross country and endure events.
