The 2013 NSW Police Games, for the first time in the events 29 year history, raised over $10,000.00 for the McGrath Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation raises money to fund McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and to increase breast awareness in young women. To reach the NSW Police Games target every participant of the event donated $10.00 to the McGrath Foundation in their Registration Fee.
The medals won by all finalists (gold, silver and bronze), reflected the McGrath Foundation through the choice of the colour pink and the Foundations logo, with Games participants encouraged to compete in “pink”.
Detective Superintendent Luke Moore, Commander of the Robbery & Serious Crime Squad and Chairman of the NSW Police Games said “The Games were all about fun, camaraderie and spirit. We were very excited to turn this event pink and raise funds in support of such a great cause. Thank you to those who competed in this year’s event. We hope to see many police and emergency service personnel compete in 2014 to celebrate our 30 year anniversary.”
Cassandra Rhodes, McGrath Foundation’s Community Friends Manager said “On behalf of the McGrath Foundation, I would like to thank the NSW Police Games for the hard work and time put in to organize your event for the Foundation.
The valuable funds raised from your event will enable us to continue Jane’s legacy by helping us to fund the McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and increase breast awareness in young Australian women.
As we say at the McGrath Foundation, together, we can make a difference!”.
The NSW Police Games is held every year in March and is open to all NSW Police Force employees (including Volunteers In Policing) and full time employees of government agencies with a law enforcement role – NSW Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Customs, Corrections, APS, SES, the Sheriffs Dept, RFS, AFP, as well as Blacktown City Council and Police Bank employees within NSW.
